AWARDS:

· The first-place scholarships, one for each of the five intensive Masters, cover the total cost of the program fee, 7,000 €.

Scholarship Description:

If you reside in Russia, Turkey, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil and aged between 18 and 26 years old, you can compete for 10 scholarships, two for each country, for the three years course in Interior Design, taught in English language, at IED Milano.

SCHOLARSHIP RULES
Istituto Europeo di Design – IED international network grants scholarships.
IED Milan grant 10 scholarships for attendance of the first year of the three year interior design course, taught in English, for the 2010-2011 school year.

1. Costs and duration
10 partial scholarships covering 50% of the tuition fee of the first school year (3500 euros).
The winners will have to pay, in the first year, for the enrolment fee. (2500 euros) and 50% of the tuition fee (3500 euros).
For the following two school years if the student passes the curriculum examinations of each year, achieving at least an average score of 28/30, a 3.000 euro scholarship will be granted. In case the student fails to comply with that, the scholarship shall not be renewed.

2. Admission Requirements
The scholarships are opened to all Russian, Turkish, Mexican, Colombian and Brazilian residents aged between 18 and 26 years old eligible.

Basic requirements for participants:
At the selection are admitted students with a high-school degree.
The selection is only for beginners, students willing to be admitted at the first year of our three year courses.
Attention: advanced Students (students eligible for master courses – with specialized University Bachelor) or eligible for direct admission to the second year of the three year courses, are NOT eligible for this selection.
Therefore students with University Bachelor can be admitted only in case their previous Bachelor has nothing to do with the first year course they want to attend.
Age limits: students between 18 years and 26 years are eligible.
Those who hold a IED diploma or similar, IED employees and consultants are not eligible for selection.

3. Language Requirements
All candidates must have a good knowledge of the tuition language (higher intermediate level of English)
The school, through a telephone interview, may also assess the level of language knowledge.

4. Deadline, conditions and general terms
Portfolio should be sent by Apply Now no later than October 16th, 2010.
Incomplete portfolio, which do not meet the requirements, or which do not have the elements referred above, or which contain wrong or unreadable data, or sent after midnight (24.00 Italian time), October 16, 2010, will not be considered valid.
Intransgressible conditions to which applicants guarantee and respond when submitting the project are: – The applicant must be the only person who conceived and realized the project, the project must be original, not a copy or result of plagiarism. – The project must not be under any property or royalty rights, or copyrighted.
The jury may, unquestionably, exclude from the selection any project that do not comply with the above terms.
IED does not assume any responsibility for conditions that are not imputable to it and that shall compromise the project remittance, such as: losses or delays, malfunctioning of electronic devices.
Applicants authorize their personal data to be used in compliance to the law D.L. 196, dated June 30th, 2003.
The material remitted by the applicants will not be returned and may be used freely by IED, without any economic charges.

4. Evaluation, attribution and communication to winning applicants
The portfolio evaluation will be conducted by a jury made of the 4 principals or school representatives of Design.

The evaluation will be made by the jury judgment, unquestionably. Winners will be notified by email or phone by an IED representative. Winning applicants must send a formal acceptance letter by e-mail by*Apply Now* , within three days after the result is received. If the winning applicant fails to meet this requirement, the scholarship will be automatically considered as ‘refused’ and the jury may decide, unquestionably, to grant it to another applicant. After the applicant accepts the scholarship, he/she will have a 7-day deadline to enroll in the course to which the scholarship was granted.

5. Disputes
Any eventual dispute will be sent to a unique judge nominated in accordance to both parties, or in case of disagreement, by the Chairperson of Milan’s Camera di Commercio, Industria e Artigianato. The conciliation without any judicial intervention will happen in Milan. The judge will decide 120 days after the dispute is opened. Both parties must be willing to fulfill the judge’s decision immediately.

IED Istituto Europeo di Design, the school that graduated more than 90.000 students around the world – launches “Creative diary”. Young talent from around the world will be showcased daily as they compete for 38 IED international scholarships to attend the master courses for the 2010-1011 academic year at IED Rome, IED Milan, IED Turin, IED Florence, IED Venice, IED Barcelona, IED Madrid.

Scholarships are to be distributed among the four IED schools: Fashion, Design, Visual Arts and Communication. Students between 20 and 45 years old can participate in the selection process. The MIT Visual Arts Program / Program in Art, Culture and Technology seeks committed, inquisitive and creative students for the 2010-2011 academic year. This selective two-year program grants successful participants a Master of Science in Visual Studies (SMVisS) degree. The program focuses on researched-based artistic practice, advanced visual studies and experimentation, and offers opportunities for transdisciplinary relationships with other programs and labs at MIT.

The Program

The MIT Visual Arts Program—which will be renamed the “Program in Art, Culture and Technology (ACT)” in Spring 2010—operates as a critical production- and education-based laboratory focusing on artistic research, advanced visual studies, and transdisciplinary collaboration within the context of MIT’s technological community. The program explores the role of art, culture, and technology in society and considers artistic practice to be knowledge production. The emphasis is on how cultural and artistic practices critically engage science and technology and envision their transformation. The curriculum includes courses in the “Production of Space,” “Interrogative Design,” “Networked Cultures,” and “Contemporary Curatorial Practice” among others. Collaborative and individual investigations include performance, sound and video, photography, experimental media addressing context and display, and the interplay of old and new genres that intersect with technology. The exchange and collaboration with ACT faculty and research fellows is essential to the program, and is supplemented by encounters with visiting artists and critics, conferences, workshops, and screenings. The program hosts a weekly lecture series of artists, urbanists, and scholars from a broad range of disciplines from the campus, the region and from around the world. The series is part of the vibrant exchange of ideas that is a hallmark of the program and the campus.

The Faculty Instructors are world-renowned with active, international careers and a strong interest in transdisciplinary debate, research, and modes of production. Program Director and Associate Professor Ute Meta Bauer directed SITAC VI 2008 in Mexico City and was Artistic Director of the 3rd berlin biennial for contemporary art. Professor Krzysztof Wodiczko is the Director of The Interrogative Design Group at MIT and represented his native Poland at the Venice Biennale in 2009 and currently is exhibiting at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art. Professor Joan Jonas is a video and performance pioneer and recent recipient of the Guggenheim Lifetime Achievement Award for extraordinary contributions to contemporary art. Associate Professor Gediminas Urbonas, along with Nomeda Urbonas, was awarded Honorable Mention for the Lithuanian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2007. Visiting Professor Antoni Muntadas was the recipient of the 2009 Velázquez Prize from the Spanish Culture Ministry. Le cturers Andrea Frank (Photography) , Amber Frid-Jimenez (Participatory Media), Joe Gibbons (Video), Wendy Jacob (Autism Studio), and Oliver Lutz (Multi-Media) are prominent practitioners in their fields.

Artists and cultural producers with diverse backgrounds and experience who are interested in innovative transdisciplinary artistic practice and collaborative and individual research at the intersection of art, culture, and technology are encouraged to apply. The Graduate Studies in International Affairs program offers up to four Hedley Bull Scholarships each year for full-time study in the Master of Arts (International Relations) commencing in semester one. The Ipswich Arts Foundation was established to link government, business and community in support of the Ipswich Art Gallery. Eligibility

Information

Through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS), the Swiss Government grants foreign students university scholarships (Swiss universities, Federal Institutes of Technology). These scholarships are offered on the basis of reciprocity (fixed number of scholarships for each country) or within the frame of a scholarship pool (scholarships without fixed distribution by country). They are intended for students who have graduated from university (postgraduates) and who, by staying in Switzerland, will be able to further their education and to undertake research work in the fields in which the Swiss universities are particularly active.

To a limited extent, scholarships are also offered for postgraduate studies at the Universities of Applied Sciences. This applies to the group of Western (AP-1) and Central and Eastern European countries (AP-2) included in the scholarship pool. Students must have graduated from a university or university of applied sciences with at least a Bachelor Degree and enrol in Switzerland for studies at post-graduate level. This offer applies for the seven universities of applied sciences, not including teaching colleges. In the field of the arts (design/music), the conditions for arts students relating to the country offer apply (see below).

This program is valid only for studies in Switzerland. It is not valid for on-the-job studies, part-time studies or correspondence courses.

In the framework of a special allocation, scholarships for advanced arts students (without fixed distribution by country) are offered to the best applicants who are already at an advanced stage of their training. This offer is restricted to those countries which are listed under AR, AP-1 and BR-1 as well as to China and Russia.

The scholarships are offered in principle to foreign governments. The applications have to be submitted for a preliminary selection to the national institution in charge and the Swiss diplomatic representation in the student’s country of origin. The Swiss diplomatic representation will thereupon forward the pre-selected applications to the FCS for definitive selection. Finally the Federal Department of Home Affairs awards scholarships on the advice of the FCS.

As part of a special allocation, the Swiss Government provides a number of additional scholarships to postgraduates from Central and Eastern European countries (pool system, no fixed number of scholarships for each country).
