Master Scholarships at King Mongkut’s University

at King Mongkut’s University in Thailand

2009/2010 semester II, Round I, M.Phil, Msc, M.Eng, PhD scholarships in Energy Technology & Management and Environmental Technology & Management at the Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE), Bangkok, Thailand suitably candidates are invited to applly for this sacholarship. Applicants
for PhD and MPhil should contact potential advisor (see list of JGSEE faculties and affiliate in our website) to develop research topics and draft proposal. A wide range of R & D topics are being pursued by the core and
affiliated academic staff of JGSEE. However, focused research groups have been formed so that they may deliver R & D results with greater impact to the economic and society.

To apply for a studentship, a candidate needs to have the following qualifications:

Master of Science /Master of Engendering/ Master of Science plan A
Applicants must hold a first degree in engineering, science, economics or related fields with the least final
GPA of 2.75 or be placed in the top 25% of the class. Other applicants may be admitted on conditions that
they receive improvement from JGSEE's Executive Committee.

Master of Philosophy
Applicants must hold an honors first degree in engineering, science or related fields. Those who have
graduated with ordinary degrees, but are placed in the top 10% of the class are also eligible, and those
within the top 25 % if they have some published papers to their credit.

Doctor of Philosophy
Applicants need to achieve a final GPA of 3.75 or more in their master degree studies. In cases where the
GPA is below 3.75 but not less than 3.50, application will be accepted for those who have some research
experience supported by published papers.

In all programs, the applicants should consult with their would-be supervisor on the possible thesis topic
before applying. Potential applicants should also observe that the teaching are conducted in English,
therefore, they should have a good command of the language.

The aim of JGSEE is to produce research oriented master and doctorate graduates with quality research
work in the field of energy and environment, a number of scholarships are available for suitable candidates.
Full scholarships with total fees being provided for, including living expenses, are available to applicants with a prominent academic record who show high potential of accomplishment. Partial scholarships are also available to those with less outstanding records. This latter type may include the support of all the fees or only school or tuition fees, or a portion of either fee. The scholarship recipients are selected by a committee on the basis of academic records and financial need. A scholarship recipient's academic progress is reviewed at the end of each semester to determine the recipient's continue eligibility for an award.
